One day workshop // 10am - 5pm // Level: Beyond Basics // Cost: £60 (includes fabric samples) // Instructor: Patricia Collins
Harness the full potential of your overlocker for making professional looking clothes, with your own unique embellishments.
If you've already done our one-day Unlocking Your Overlocker course or you just need a little help and encouragement to get beyond the basics, then this workshop is for you. Led by Patricia Collins, this is an opportunity to learn the full potential of your overlocker; helping you to create professional looking garments, with your own unique touch, and with fewer steps than your regular sewing machine.
Patricia will be guiding you through the use of various types of speciality thread for different applications and decorative effects. You'll also learn about two-thread overlocking and flatlocking (stitches commonly found on commercial clothing); inserting lace, trims and zips; and the use of specialised attachments for your overlocker. And we have also included a tutorial on the Coverstitch machine, with a chance to try out the studio model.
Course Requirements
This is a beyond beginner course, which means you must have some experience in using an overlocker. If you own one, we recommend that you bring your own overlocker machine. If not, there are 3 available for use at the studio, on a first-come-first-served basis (there is an option for this during booking).
The cost of this class includes some sample fabrics and threads to play with. But we do ask that you bring 4 spools of overlocking thread to the class. And you are more than welcome to bring your own scraps of fabric too. Patricia will be available for any questions you may have on your existing projects.
