One-day workshop // 10am - 5pm // Cost: £60 + cost of fabric (minimal) // Skill Level: Pure Beginner (open to all) // Instructor: Susie Haigh of Podnip
Learn how to 'draw' with your sewing machine and make something personalised and fun for yourself, a friend, or a loved one.
Free-motion embroidery is a little bit like drawing with your sewing machine: the constraints are removed, leaving you free to move your fabric around and make all sorts of wonderful motifs. This, as you may expect, is a liberating experience for anyone used to 'normal' sewing, and its bags of fun for everyone, regardless of your sewing experience.
In this one-day workshop, Podnip Designer, Susie Haigh, will be showing you how to customise your belongings with Appliqué and Free-motion Embroidery techniques. Students will then have the rest of the day to play and create artworks of their own, with the option to make a free-motion decorated cushion cover. Once you learn this technique you can apply it to cushions, bags, quilts, or wherever your imagination takes you!
Skill Level
This workshop is open to complete beginners and experienced sewers alike. If you've never used a sewing machine before, we'll give you a quick overview.
