Making Clothes for Beginners: Weekend Workshop

  • The Stitchery 24 Sandyford Place Glasgow, G3 7NG United Kingdom (map)

2-day weekend workshop, 10am - 5pm both days // Level: Beginner // Instructor: Cassandra Belanger-Macindoe // Cost: £120 (inc. pattern) // In collaboration with The Lighthouse

Learn the basics of sewing and making your own clothes. Create your very own short-sleeved shirt.

This workshop is brought to you in conjunction with The Lighthouse and their recent exhibition: Hello My Name is Paul Smith. It is a practical follow-up to the theory-based workshop that Cassandra will be giving at The Lighthouse on the 21st April. Find more information on that here.

About This Course

If you're unable to commit to a 10-week course, or would prefer to dip you toes before diving into the world of making clothes, then this two day weekend workshop could be the perfect fit for you.

Learn sewing machine basics, stitches & seams, fabric terms, simple hems and basic seam finishes. Make your very own short-sleeved shirt in a fabric of your choice and fit it to your own unique body. The shirt pattern we'll be using has been developed by Cassandra and will soon form part of a collection for Storybook Patterns; her indie pattern company due to launch later this year.

This workshop is open to complete beginners and our studio comes fully equipped with enough sewing machines for each student. But if you would like to bring your own machine, that's also fine.
