Make yourself a pair of jeans and learn how to get really good fit.

Finding hi-street jeans that are good quality, well-fitting, and suit your style can be difficult at the best of times. So that's why we've decided to show you how to make your very own denims, as well as running you through a repeatable process for getting good fit.

Led by Cassandra Macindoe, this 4-day workshop will introduce you to the process of making a wearable toile (a sort of 'prototype garment') and using what you learn from this to adjust your paper pattern and achieve better fit. We'll also be introducing you to a number of beyond beginner techniques, such as: sewing a front fly, belt loops, flat felled seams, patch & slash pockets, waistbands, and sewing with Denim.

We have 3 pattern options to choose from:

OPTION 1Ginger Skinny Jeans by Closet Case Files (women's)

Outcomes

During this workshop you'll make one pair of jeans - a 'wearable toile'. But you will also leave with a paper patter adjusted to your body; allowing you to go home and make as many well fitted pairs as you like.

The workshop will also provide you with the essential skills that you'll need to go on and make other trouser patterns.

Sustainable Clothing

Cassandra is currently completing her Masters in Fashion & Textiles at the Glasgow School of Art, majoring in sustainable clothing design. During this workshop Cassandra will be sharing some of her findings with regards to the social and environmental impacts of the jeans industry, and presenting some sustainable solutions.
