MAKING BRAS AND PANTS
Workshop + Course Information
COURSE LENGTH
8-week course / 2.5 hours per week
Note that some homework may be required if tasks are not completed within class time.
TOPICS COVERED
Working with stretch fabric / Professional techniques for lingerie elastic / Measuring for bras, briefs and swimwear / Identify and correct fitting problems
OUTCOMES
Students will be introduced to the use of stretch fabrics and learn to use them to their maximum potential; creating undergarments that fit as they should. Each student will personalise the Poppy Bralette and pants (pattern TBC), making it in a fabric of their choice.
Do I Need To Bring a Sewing Machine?
Possibly. We recognise it can be quite nice to learn new skills on your own sewing machine. So you are welcome to bring it along. However, if you’d prefer to use ours, we have 6 studio machines available and 1 overlocker.
Although not essential, having a sewing machine at home is helpful for this course. If you don't own one already, we sell a range of Janome machines, and offer discounts on these to our students. Contact us for more details.

Basic Supplies
FABRICS & HABERDASHERY
WEEKEND WORKSHOP
If you are attending the weekend workshop we will provide fabric in a limited range of block colours. This is included in the cost of the workshop. However, if you have a specific colour or fabric in your stash that you’ve been excited to work with please bring it along. We can determine if it is suitable and if so, how best to work with it.
Also note that, since some of the smaller notions required for making undergarments are quite specialised, we will include packs of these for every student. We will also provide basic sewing tools for the workshop but if you are more comfortable using your own please feel free to bring along your own sewing kit.
8-WEEK EVENING COURSE
Please note that no fabric purchases are necessary or even recommended before the 8-week course starts.
The first session will include a comprehensive explanation on how to choose and pre-wash your fabrics. We will have some fabrics available for purchase at the first lesson. Hardware and elastics in a few different colour options will be provided as part of the cost of the course or workshop. If you want colours outside of this range you will need to purchase these yourself. We recommend but we will talk you through what kinds of hardware and elastics are best during the first lesson.
