And the Votes are In!

Thanks to everyone to voted in our Zinnia Sewalong competition. Voting is now closed and we have a winner! (and a couple of lovely runners up too).

And thanks also to our sponsors, who have made our wonderful prizes possible: Janome, who supply all our sewing machines and Mandors, the fabric shop of choice for our students.

1st Place - Eva

Congratulation to Eva, our grand prize winner! Eva's glamorous skirt is made from Dutchess Satin and is based on Version 3 of the Zinnia Pattern. She won the voters over with her hand-stitched floral lace, appliqued around the hem of her skirt. A lot of patient work!

And we at the Stitchery have particular reason to be proud of Eva, who has only been sewing for a relatively short amount of time, having attended our Sewing for Beginners course last year. Well done Eva! Our first prize of a Janome CXL301 will be winging its way to you very soon, along with £50 worth of Sitchery gift vouchers.

2nd Place - Siobhan

Second place in our competition goes to Siobhan, who’s take on Version 1 of the Zinnia pattern has also earned her the accolade of Editors Choice. We adored the choice of fabrics in this skirt and were very impressed with her attention to detail. Also impressive was the comprehensive package of beautiful photographs that she sent in as part of her submission.

For her efforts Siobhan has won a £50 Mandors fabric shop voucher as well £50 to spend at the Stitchery. For anyone interested, she also has a great sewing blog, which includes a post on the making of her Zinnia skirt.

3rd Place - Laurie

Well done to Laurie, who's vintage inspired skirt has won her third place in our competition. We loved Laurie's take on Version 1 of the Zinnia pattern. The lace covered pocket flaps and differing waistband fabrics were a big hit with our panel of judges.

Another student of the Stitchery, we're very proud of Laurie's creative vision for this skirt and the standard of work she has produced. And since her prize is a £50 gift voucher for our studio, we sincerely hope to see more of this in the future.

Until Next Time

Thus endeth the Stitchery's Zinnia Sewalong and Competition. We hope you've enjoyed it and found it a useful source of learning.
