One Day Course // 9:30am - 4:30pm // Level: Beginner // Cost: £60 + Fabrics // Instructor: Alison Drever of Curate & Create // Project: The Carolyn Pyjamas
About This Course
If you're unable to commit to a 10-week course or would prefer to dip your toes before diving into the world of sewing, then this one-day introductory workshop could be perfect for you.
Learn sewing machine basics, stitches & seams, fabric terms, simple hems and basic seam finishes. Over the course of the day, students will make the pyjama bottoms from the Carolyn Pyjamas set; a thoughtfully tailored, comfortable and well fitting set of PJs. In doing so, they will be introduced to techniques such as elasticized waists, pockets, a faux fly, and the basics of using a flat pattern.
And, incase you were wondering, The Stitchery studio comes fully equipped with a sewing machine for each student (although you can bring your own), and a changing room to give you some privacy when fitting your makes. And for you men out there keen to join in, we have a men's pattern option available too.
Take Homes
At the end of this course, you will go home with:
- A comfortable, well fitting set of PJ bottoms in a fabric of your choice - You can choose to make the full length version or the shorts.
- A basic set of sewing skills that you can begin to develop and apply to other projects.
- A technique sample book - containing samples you have made during class.
- The The Carolyn Pyjamas flat pattern so that you can make more!
