2 day weekend workshop (+prep session) // 10am - 5pm both days // Level: Beginner // Instructor: Susie Haigh // Cost: £120 (inc. pattern) // Patterns: Chardon Skirt and Scout Tee
Learn the basics of making your own clothes, and come away with something new and unique for your summer wardrobe!
Be Yourself. Choose your own fabric; fit it to your own unique body; express your own unique style. If you're tired of wearing low quality, ill-fitting, generic hi-street clothing, then this course is your opportunity to break from the herd.
Learn sewing machine basics, stitches & seams, fabric terms, simple hems and basic seam finishes. Boost your summer wardrobe with your own self made Chardon Skirt or Scout Tee (or both if you're fast!). These are simple wardrobe stapes that can be made again and again in different fabrics.
This workshop is designed for complete beginners, but is open sewers of all skill level. And our studio comes fully equipped with enough sewing machines for each student. But if you would like to bring your own machine, that's also fine.
Prep Session
There will be a prep session for this workshop on May 29th, 6pm-8pm. This will be an opportunity for you to meet your instructor, pick up your pattern, and familiarise yourself with our studio. During this session your instructor will be discussing fabric choice, giving an overview of the weekend, and setting you some homework before the workshop begins. You'll be taking your measurements, choosing a size and (time permitting) beginning to trace out your pattern pieces.
Although not essential, we do recommend that students make it along to this prep session. But if you're keen to take this course and find that you can't make it along, please get in touch.
