2-day Weekend Workshop // 10am-12:30pm, both days // Age Suitability: 6-10 years (although older children welcome; see description below) // Cost: £65 (including fabric & cushion pad) // Instructor: Susie Haigh
Learn how to use a sewing machine and make your very own cushion, with a personalised appliqué design.
Led by designer, Susie Haigh, this fun filled weekend workshop is the ideal kid-sized introduction to the fabulous world of sewing. Students will learn sewing machine basics; how to sew seams; basic seam finishes; double fold hem, and machine appliqué using a zig zag stitch. Each of our budding you sewers will make their very own cushion with a personalised appliqué design.
Fabric for making the cushion covers and bunting is included in the cost. However, if any student wishes to bring their own fabric, and especially any scraps for the appliqué, this is perfectly fine. Sewing machines are also provided, but students are free to bring their own.
This course is geared towards children who are aged 6-10. However, older children are welcome, if they would like to tackle general sewing before (or instead of) making pyjamas. In the interests of child safety, the tutor leading this course has been through full Disclosure Scotland.
