In this 2-hour workshop, led by Patricia Collins, we'll be helping you to get your head around these rather odd looking machines. Topics covered will include threading; setting thread tension; and working with knit and woven fabrics. Students will then share one machine between two, taking it in turns to practice a variety of techniques and create their own samples.

Setting in a sleeve is a standard requirement for many garments, and once you've learned this basic technique it's something you can use again and again. In this two hour workshop, Susie Haigh will be demonstrating how to set in a standard sleeve, including some tips on giving it the right amount of ease. Students will then have an opportunity to try out this technique on their own sample, with Susie on hand for any questions.

2 hour workshop // 12:30pm - 2:30pm // Instructor: Susie Haigh // Level: Beyond Beginner // Part of Sew Doable Weekend

There are many different methods for lining a garment and it's hard to know what method to choose and why. In this workshop we'll be showing you, through the use of samples, what the various methods are and when to use them. Susie will be demonstrating the all-in-one method, with each student then going on to try this out in a sleeveless lined bodice. Participants will also have the opportunity to watch a demo on attaching a skirt lining to a waistband or facing.

In this workshop Susie Haigh will be demonstrating step-by-step techniques for a Full Bust Adjustment (FBA) and Small Bust Adjustment (SBA) on a paper patterns. Students will have the opportunity to try one of these techniques for themselves. Susie will also be covering dart manipulation. 

One day workshop // Cost: £50 // Instructor: Patricia Macindoe

This one-day workshop, led by highly regarded Textile Artist and Quilt Maker Patricia Macindoe, is a step-by-step practical guide on how to make your very own quilted cushion. Students will learn the fundamentals of machine quilting, along with basic fabric cutting techniques, patchworking, and layering up.

In this course, led by independent Designer, Susie Haigh, students will learn a variety of techniques such as basic stitches & seams, appliqué, and free motion embroidery. They will then apply these learned skills to making their very own decorative cushion.

For those of you who aren't able to commit to a 10 week course, this one day workshop teaches sewing machine basics, stitches & seams, fabric terms, simple hems and basic seam finishes. After learning these basic skills, students will apply them to making a useful tote bag in a fabric of their choice.

Cushion making is addictive, as many of our students have discovered. Once you learn to make one you'll probably go home and make a few more. In this course you will be shown the techniques of appliqué, piping and fabric covered buttons and then apply them to making your very own decorative cushion.

In this short workshop learn the basics of sewing, including how to set up a sewing machine, basic stitches and foundational sewing techniques, and create your very own pin cushion to take home. You can also get a 10% discount on all Stitchery classes purchased on the day.
